       黄翡是翡翠的一种，颜色有黄到褐黄色。黄、褐黄都是次生矿物褐铁矿表现的颜色，其色形、质地变化与红翡相似。

鉴别黄翡的技巧：

        其一是翠性。翠性是指翡翠的晶面，在光照下会呈现片状、针状或星点状的闪光。业内人士称这些闪光为蚊子翅或者苍蝇翅。黄翡一般都有很明显的翠性，玻璃光泽度好，轻轻敲击会有清脆悦耳的声音。

       其二是橘皮效应。黄翡的表面会像桔皮一样高低不平，这是由于翡翠颗粒的排列方向不同。不过翡翠表面有破裂或不平时，会经过浸蜡处理，这也可以改善翡翠的光泽度。

       其三是翡翠的光泽。一般的黄翡，制作精细，抛光良好，由于玉质致密，翡翠表面十分光滑，通常会呈现出玻璃一般的光泽。而且它的硬度也很大，所以用刀子刮表面的话，不会留有刮痕。
